I was first introduced to the Elder Scrolls series with Elder Scrolls II: Redguard. The game was one of the first 3D RPGs on the marke with 3D graphics representing the characters, the scenery, the monsters and more. Redguard was a 3rd person action game, and was quite successful

The next game, Morrowind, set the bar for 3D graphics in a computer game. The water effects in Morrowind simply blew me away. The game however was a bit tedious, as you had to endure many many hours of walking around doing nothing. Morrowind was an impressive showcase for Pixel Shaders, with the most impressive water, including rain, ever seen up to that point in a computer game.

At E3 last year, Bethsheda Softworks, the makers of Morrowind showed off a brand new game to the Elder Scrolls series. Scheduled to arrive late in 2005 for the Xbox 360 and the computer, this game was called Obliviion. Sporting an all-new graphics engine, new quests and graphics that simply blew me away, I had very high hopes for the game. The game was delayed until late last month and released to much fanfare. I purchased the Collector’s Edition as soon as it was available.
