The real time strategy genre has been with us since the early days of gaming. I remember one of the first PC games that I really fell in love with was Command & Conquer Red Alert. So much has changed since then, along with the material our RTS games are devised from. Star Wars is a world renowned subject to make a game about. So, you'd think that RTS and Star Wars would go together in a creamy mixture of delicious gaming fun, right? Well, if you played Star Wars Galactic Battlegrounds, you'll know that it isn't as easy as it sounds. Not to mention Rebellion and Force Commander. I will give you a moment to shudder at will. Feel better? Good. Featuring an awesome new engine by Petroglyph and produced hand in hand with Lucasarts, Empire at War definitely has a good chance of breaking this terrible habit of mediocre Star Wars RTS titles.
