Age of Empires III has a single player and a multiplayer game. The single player game has a very interesting storyline. You take the role of the Black family in three different generations. The game starts off in Europe where you as Morgan Black are a member of the Knights of St. John, attempting to stop the Circle of Ossus from capturing the a certain artifact. The first act is a bit of an introduction to the game, with easy missions and gradually increasing difficulty.

Act II, has you take the role of John Black, Morgan's grandson. In this act, you attempt to stop the enemy from winning the Seven Years War. John has an ally in Kenyanke, a Native American that plays a key role in the story. The third act has you in control of Amelia Black, the granddaughter of John Black in an attempt to settle the Old West and reclaim the gold that rightfully belongs to her. I don’t want to spoil the whole story, but it’s told in beautiful in-game cinematic.
