If you are expecting a web-browser game to look and sound as let's say Fallout 3 or Brothers in Arms - Hell's Highway or just about any of the 50 dollar games that you can purchase in stores today, then you have to drastically reconsider your thinking.

Compared with the games listed above, Disciple looks and sounds terrible, but we can not accurately put Disciple in the same category as those other games. Disciple is a web-browser game and considering that fact alone, it sounds and looks pretty darn well. Yes, there is room for improvement, but overall, I was happy with what I saw and heard.

You are not going to find any voice acting in this game or any movie files for that manner. The sound is the traditional background music that many arcade-style fighting games use. It is there to aid in your entertainment, but I don't see the composer getting a job with the Vienna Symphony anytime soon. And if the music gets redundant, you can just click on the little speaker icon and mute the sound altogether. The sounds of fighting are nothing spectacular either, but you do have the clinking of weapons as well as some painfully sounding creams when a character falls. Now, considering that this entire game takes place in real time on your web-browser, and considering that the game is FREE, I really don't think that complaining has much validity here. Yes, there is room for improvement, but as long as the game is free you're not going to see me complain.

Disciple's graphics, once again, if we are to compare them with the graphics found in 50 dollar games would look outdated and disappointing, however, considering that this game is played on your web-browser, I'm actually quite impressed. The animations are smooth, the character graphics are clear, colorful and detailed, and the background scenery is composed of some very beautifully drawn art. Even the homepage for Disciple has a certain charm to it that makes you want to click 'Enter World' just so you can see more. The programmers included even blood and gore in this web-browser game. As you advance in levels you can use your game-earned money to purchase and upgrade your weapons and armor, and as you can probably guess, the higher the level the more impressive your attire looks. The only problem that I have with the visual aspect of the gear is the lack of color customization. Games like Guild Wars or Fable II incorporated the dye system where players can use vials of dye to change the color of the equipped gear. If Resistor Productions will eventually add this feature as well, the game will look less redundant and it will motivate players to earn the dyes so they can customize their characters to their liking. But once again, considering that this game is not only free, but web-browser based as well, I more than happy with what I'm given and any add-on will be greatly appreciated.
