Zoo Tycoon 2 is a tad limited in the quality of both the sound and the graphics.

Speaking on behalf of the graphics, I don't want you to misunderstand me. Parts of the graphics look good while other parts could use some improvement.

As the game's title suggests, in Zoo Tycoon 2, the focus is on the animals, and as far as I'm concerned, the animals look great. The buildings, cages, fences, aquariums, etc., they also look good. What is rather disappointing is the rendered quality of the people.

There is such a wide difference between the quality of the animals and that of the people (visitors and employees alike) that I came up with two theories. In one theory I decided that two separate teams worked on the game's graphics, but the more realistic theory is that they made the animals look better in order to attract more attention to the zoo element of the game.

As for the game's sound, it is rather limited. Maybe I haven't gotten enough sleep lately, but for some reason I tend to yawn a lot while I'm playing this game and I don't blame that on the actual game. I've actually had a lot of fun creating my zoos. I do blame the music though. The sounds are just too mellow and relaxing and that makes me sleepy. As for animal sounds ... they're far and few in between. On the bright side, I'd rather have the sounds relax and make me sleepy instead of making my ears bleed. And who knows, you might find the sound perfectly soothing. Art is in the eye of the beholder (well in this case the music is in the ear of the beholder, and we all have our own tastes).
