If you have to read Greek mythology for your next school project I would not play through Rise of the Argonauts and expect to actually learn anything accurate when it comes to mythology.

About the only thing that the storyline for this game has in common with the real story of Jason and the Argonauts is the fact that a bunch of heroes went on a legendary journey on a ship named Argo. Another thing that the game is accurate to the actual story is the names of the heroes partaking on this great voyage.

Just because the story is not accurate to the Greek mythology I don't think that the story behind the video game is bad. Considering that movies have a hard time staying accurate compared to the book, no one should have expected this game to be accurate either. In Rise of the Argonauts Jason's wife gets murdered on her wedding day. Jason makes a vow to do whatever it takes to bring his wife back from the dead.

And this is how the story begins. Master Argos, the great ship builder, made a great ship for Jason and his wife as a wedding present but now that ship has a new purpose. Jason and his trusted friend Hercules travel to the Oracle at Delphi to see what the fates have in store for him and for his dead wife. There he learns that the Golden Fleece has the power to bring his wife back from the dead. Leaving his kingdom in the hands of trusted uncle, Jason embarks on a legendary journey to trace down the whereabouts of the Golden Fleece. Does Jason have what it takes to secure the Golden Fleece? Can he make it back in time to save his wife's soul before it is too late? Is Jason's uncle a trustworthy individual? I could answer all these questions for you but if I do it will spoil the storyline. If you want to find out more you're going to have to play the game yourself.
