What can I say? This game rocked. Every single aspect of the game was impressive. The sound was great (awesome crashing effects and a kicking soundtrack), the graphics were just phenomenal from every single aspect and perspective. The cars are beautifully rendered and they crumple up just as beautifully in case of a collision. The tracks are filled with eye-candy, and the 8000 destructible objects on each track not only help make the tracks look incredible, but they also add a wide range of crashing variety for either your or your opponents.
But wait, there’s more; and all positive as well. The game handles beautifully. It is one of the few games that is enjoyable on either keyboard, gamepad or a wheel. Honestly, this is more of a racing simulator then many of the titles claiming that; I think it got labeled as an arcade game because it does not use real cars or real tracks like so many of the current racing titles. As you can probably tell by now that this is one if not my favorite racing game [I love the two-for-one combo (a racer and a wrecker at the same time)], so I keep trying to come up with something negative to say about the game just because I’ve made it my point in all my reviews to try to point out the good as well as the bad, but in this game’s case I really can’t thing of anything bad to say. Even the cost is phenomenal; $19.99. For what I’m getting that’s a bargain; for the first time ever I think I would not have had a problem with a game costing more. If this game was in the $40 bracket like so many of its competitors, I would still give it a perfect score on price considering all the content available in the game. And while Flat Out – Ultimate Carnage is a replica of Flat Out 2, I don’t have a problem with that factor because of all the improvements. While the idea is the same, while the tracks are almost identical, it is more than worth a purchase. The only way I would say stay away from this game is if you strait out hate racing games, especially games that focus on wrecking in order to get yourself ahead of the competition.
