Pilot Down:
Behind Enemy Lines
Author: Nick
Haywood
"Played
from a third person perspective, Pilot Down: Behind Enemy Lines
uses an interesting mix of shooter and RPG elements with a fair
bit of sneaky stealth stuff thrown in too. There’s an inventory
system in place for storing and using items you find on your travels
and performing certain tasks gains you experience points which
can be used to increase Bill’s health and endurance."

Destroy All
Humans – X-Box
Author: Nick
Haywood
"Despite
developer’s efforts, it’s rare for attempts at humour
to work within video games, but Pandemic and THQ are having a
good crack with potential weapons of mass mirth such as the Zap-O-Matic
and the delightfully named Anal Probe both backed up with a brilliant
bit of back story that puts many of the tired and jaded plots
from other shooters to shame."

Wrestlemania
21 - X-Box
Author: Nick
Haywood
"All
of this build up, whilst looking good and getting you into the
over the top American style showmanship, only serves to let you
down badly when you start playing the game. The problem, and it’s
a big problem, is that Wrestlemania 21 just doesn’t play
a good game."

SiN Episodes
Coming To Source
Author: Nick
Haywood
"When
Sin was released way back in 1998 it was soon dwarfed by Valve’s
Half Life which not only raised the bar for FPS games, but took
the bar, painted it a different colour, stuck it up on the roof
and took everyone else’s ladders away. But times change
and Ritual’s latest effort proves that close collaboration
with an old competitor can reap rewards."

XFX Gear Gamepad

"XFX
have certainly got the style, dressing their gamepads up in black
rubber and finishing them off in silver, but are they any good?
We test out both the wired and wireless flavours of XFX's new
peripherals and see how they hold up against those stalwart gamepad
favourites from Logitech and Microsoft."

Bet On Soldier
Author: Nick
Haywood
"The
basic thrust of the game is that there’s been a war raging
for the last 80 years and no-one is too sure why it kicked off
anymore. But 80 years of warring takes its toll and the battle
has developed into a war between two rival giant federations,
who treat the war like a business (as these future things invariably
do). Having used up their stock of standard soldiers, the war
is fought using mercenaries and to keep the masses happy, the
battles between rival mercenaries has been turned into a game
show."

Juiced
Author: Nick
Haywood
"Juiced
has to be the first racer I’ve played where the game mechanics
work against you to stop you actually racing! You’ll spend
most of your time flicking through the calendar looking for races
you can attend and then looking to see if you can actually drive…
and even then you have to think carefully about whether you can
afford it after the race is over. Where’s the fun in that?
It might be worth it if the races were any fun, but with the AI
winning nearly every collision, losing you reputation points and
costing you in repairs and with car handling that makes my wife’s
J plate Rover 214 feel nimble and sporty, I just see no reason
to bother with Juiced, especially if you’ve got either of
the Need For Speed: Underground games."

Headset
Author: Nick
Haywood
"Halfway
down the speaker cord is the inline control box with a volume
wheel but then there’s this little switch giving you the
options of off, normal and max… And it’s in this little
switch that the headset comes alive, literally. Flick that switch
and the headset starts to rumble in response to the bass sounds
within the game."
